Der Toblacher See bildete sich im Altertum, dank der zahlreichen Bergstürze, die sich von den Bergen am Westufer des Sees lösten.
Der Toblacher See stellt eines der wenigen Beispiele für ein Rieselfeld (ein Feuchtge-biet) dar, die in der Alpenregion existieren.

Nell’antichità il lago di Dobbiaco si è formato da uno smottamento dei monti vicini, nella parte ovest del lago stesso.
È uno dei pochi esempi di marcita (zona umida) della regione alpina.

The lake of Dobbiaco was formed by a lot of stone avalanches from the surrounding mountains during the antiquity.
